COMMEMORATIVE
COVERS
The
Barnes Wallis Memorial Trust has issued two commemorative
covers to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Dambusters Raid.
The weapon used on the raid was the "bouncing bomb" designed
by Sir Barnes Wallis.

The
first cover features the Dambuster stamps issued by Guernsey.
These are on a Barnes Wallis Memorial Trust cover featuring
an illustration of Sir Barnes Wallis, the designer of the
"bouncing bomb" weapon used on the raid. The stamps have been
cancelled by the Guernsey Post Office with a special Barnes
Wallis Memorial Trust Cancellation dated 16th May 2003, the
60th Anniversary of the raid. Just 50 of these covers have
been produced and all are signed by Sir Barnes Wallis' elder
son. These covers cost £15 each.

The second cover features the Isle of Man miniature sheet, cancelled by the Isle of Man Post Office with a Barnes Wallis Memorial Trust cancellation, dated 16th May 2003 - the anniversary date. Only 50 of these covers have been produced with this cancellation and each cover is signed by Sir Barnes Wallis' elder son and by Mrs Margaret Dove, daughter of Roy Chadwick - designer of the Lancaster bomber aircraft used on the raid. These covers cost £20 each.
The covers can be ordered from the Barnes Wallis Memorial Trust, c/o 3 Station Road, Pannal, Harrogate, North Yorks. HG3 1JJ. UK postage £1 extra per order. Telephone the Trust's Chairman, Peter Rix on 01423 871909 for further details, or email covers@bameswallistrust.org
